“How soon ‘not now’ becomes ‘never’.”

procrastinate no more

Are you a procrastinator? If so, you may not only be putting off tasks that you would rather not be doing, but you may also be putting off your rise to the top. Top performers, unlike procrastinators have the ability to prioritize then act. And the good news is…so do you. Below are some tips to help you create productive days that can lead to more than productive months and years.

  • Each day, write down the three big things you need to get done to feel productive. Then don’t end your day until they’re done.
  • Spend 15 minutes at the beginning of each day breaking down A, B, C, D tasks. But don’t over plan! That’s often a method of procrastination.
  • Get the A tasks done first while you have the most energy.
  • Break large tasks down into smaller ones. When a task seems overwhelming, it’s easier to put off. If you only have 10 minutes to get a 30-minute project done, take the 10 minutes and get going. The 20 minutes can be another task.
  • Set a deadline and discipline yourself to stick to it.
  • Determine the value of your time. If you make $100K a year, each work hour is worth $50. Waste an hour; you just blew $50.
  • Learn to say, “NO.” If your list is loaded with C and D tasks that aren’t directly adding value to you or a customer, you will mistake activity for progress.

So this week, take control of an asset that you often feel you have no control over…your time. And remember that the world’s most successful people are given no more hours each day than the rest. The best just make each hour more valuable.
